Monica Ashiku is a Special Projects Attorney at the National Immigration Project (NIPNLG). Her work focuses on implementing provisions of the Ms. L. class action settlement agreement by providing training and technical assistance to attorneys and accredited representatives for Ms. L. class members. Prior to joining NIPNLG, Monica was a Staff Attorney in the immigration research unit at the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. She previously worked as a supervisor at the San Francisco Asylum Office, as lead immigration attorney at the Public Law Center in Santa Ana, California, and as an Equal Justice Works Fellow at ProBAR in Harlingen, Texas. Monica obtained a law degree from UC Davis School of Law and a BA from UC San Diego.
