Each year the National Immigration Project honors one of its members doing outstanding work for immigrant rights. This year, we were thrilled to honor Marta Delgado as the recipient of the 2024 Elisabeth S. "Lisa" Brodyaga Award.
Marta Delgado is a longtime immigration law practitioner who represents clients in all types of family-based immigration matters, removal proceedings, naturalization, and appeals, and routinely represents clients before DHS, EOIR, the Department of State, and U.S. consular posts worldwide.
Prior to co-founding Delgado Rompf Bruen LLC, Marta spent over 17 years with Chicago immigration law practices. She is also a former staff attorney with the Mexican American Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF) and former attorney for the Midwest Immigrant Rights Center (MIRC), now known as the National Immigrant Justice Center.
Since November, Marta has been providing immigration legal services with The Resurrection Project, to enable new immigrants to make a successful transition into life in the U.S. She also participates in the Colibrí Fellowship group mentoring program, training future non-attorney legal representatives to strengthen the capacity of community-based legal aid organizations.
Marta currently serves on the Board of Cara Collective and is a consulting attorney for the Consulate General of Mexico in Chicago; and she is a former board member of the Catherine Cook School and Mujeres Latinas En Accion. Marta has been recognized for her service and support of local organizations such as Latinos Progresando and Chicago Coalition for the Homeless. She has served on the AILA National ICE Liaison Committee and as chair or co-chair of several liaison committees for the Chicago AILA Chapter. Marta has been an active member of the National Immigration Project for over 25 years.
