Fall Hybrid CLE Seminar: Immigrant Power-Building in a Time of Rising Fascism
Wednesday, October 9, 2024
10:00 am - 5:30 pm CT
Tulane University Law School, 6329 Freret Street, New Orleans, LA 70118 and Online via Zoom Webinar
No matter the outcome of the upcoming election, we are already facing a growing number of anti-immigrant state laws, the further criminalization of protesting, and the rise of fascism evidenced by attacks on immigrants. Yet in the face of such hostility, immigrants, whether they be students, youth, workers, lawyers, or asylum seekers, are standing up to fight back and build power in their communities and across movements. Our hybrid Fall CLE will highlight how collaborations between directly-impacted individuals and lawyers can be effective in resisting the rise of fascism, securing protections from deportation, and building power for the movement.
The National Immigration Project thanks our Event sponsor: Grossman, Young, and Hammond, LLC.
Fall 2024 Community Defender Training: Tools for Protecting Communities Against Immigration Enforcement
Wednesday, October 9, 2024
9:30 am - 4:30 pm CT
AIA New Orleans, 1000 St. Charles Avenue, New Orleans, Louisiana
In-person training only
As the election approaches, and the threat of increased immigration enforcement looms large, we are pleased to offer an all day training for organizers and other community advocates focused on protecting our communities from immigration enforcement. Topics will include crafting effective Know Your Rights presentations, working with immigrant families to prepare emergency plans, bond, stays of removal, and best practices for rapid response work based on lessons learned under past administrations.
This training is for community organizers. If you are a lawyer, paralegal, or accredited representative, please check out our Fall CLE seminar being offered on the same date.
