Making a charitable gift in your will to a cause or causes that have been meaningful in your life allows you to have a lasting impact for generations to come.
Becoming a Legacy Donor to the National Immigration Project will continue to grow our movement into the future, for a world in which all people can live freely and flourish without fearing for their lives, health, security, or their ability to remain where they are.
Making a Gift in a Will is the easiest and most common way of making a legacy gift. You can name the National Immigration Project of the National Lawyers Guild in your will, designating a specific amount of money, a percentage of your estate, or a specific asset. You can also name the National Immigration Project as a contingent beneficiary.
Beneficiary Designations are simple to accomplish and do not require a will. You simply sign a form from your institution (e.g., bank, insurance company). Examples include traditional IRA, 401(k), 403(b), Keogh, and SEP.
Individual Retirement Accounts (non-Roth)/IRAs are the most efficient way to make a legacy gift because, if not given to a non-profit, the recipient pays income tax.
Life Insurance can be used to make a gift to the National Immigration Project. For example, you can name the National Immigration Project as a contingent beneficiary of an existing policy, or your life insurance plan can “endow” your annual gift to the National Immigration Project.

As a longtime supporter of the National Immigration Project, I donate my IRA qualified charitable contribution to support its fearless fight for immigrant dignity and justice. I hope everyone supports National Immigration Project, its excellent legal work, trainings, and advocacy. Immigration rights are near and dear to me and my life’s profession.
