As COVID-19 rapidly spreads in the United States and in detention facilities, immigration courts and immigration detention facilities have failed to adopt policies that sufficiently protect the health and due process rights of immigrants in detention. This litigation on behalf of several immigration lawyer groups and individuals with pending immigration cases demands that the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) take immediate necessary actions to prioritize the health and safety of attorneys and clients at risk in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. NIPNLG filed this lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
