NIPNLG v. ICE : "Operation Mega" FOIA Suit
NIPNLG, Detention Watch Network and Mijente partnered with over 200 organizations and community leaders in September 2017 to file Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests about "Operation Mega", a proposed enforcement operation which was supposed to be the largest raid in U.S. history. This lawsuit against ICE and DHS challenges their refusal to release the requested documents. Information requested includes background, protocols, and procedures for Operation Mega and other such mass operations from all 24 ICE offices in the country.
The case was filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia by NIPNLG and Public Citizen Litigation Group on behalf of NIPNLG, Detention Watch Network and Mijente.
