Dear Friend,

Thanks to you, the National Immigration Project (NIPNLG) is working to dismantle systems that criminalize our communities, creating dozens of resources that assist immigration and criminal law practitioners, and training up a corps of fierce attorneys and advocates all over the country.

Together we are creating an inclusive and welcoming future for all.

  1. Significant policy and campaign victories for and with people directly impacted by our country's harmful and racist immigration and criminal legal systems;
  2. The addition of four new immigrant rights attorneys joining our staff in January, increasing the impact of NIPNLG's legal and movement work;
  3. The addition of FOUR NEW immigrant rights attorneys joining our staff in January, increasing the impact of NIPNLG's legal and movement work;
  4. Better access to NIPNLG resources hrough a revamped and streamlined website, to accompany improved membership offerings to thousands of advocates, non-profits, law school clinics, and attorneys from across the country; and

As together we continue to confront challenges in our work and in our communities—from the Covid-19 pandemic to the entrenched, systemic criminalization of migration—we are reminded that real change is always hard-fought and hard-won. So with you, we continue to fight hard for every win.

To make NIPNLG's work possible, we need your support. Together, NIPNLG:

  • fights for legislation and executive action that does not leave people with criminal convictions behind
  • advances campaigns to stop harassment of humanitarian aid groups at the border
  • supports Black-led organizations in condemning the treatment of Black migrants at the border and in detention
  • provides legal assistance to local detention shut-down and release campaigns
  • piloted a new curriculum on aggressive removal defense strategies that takes lessons from the criminal defense context into the immigration courts
  • published 38 community-facing or attorney-facing educational resources in 2021 on key legal and policy developments, with many more to come in 2022
  • continues to litigate a robust docket of cases around the country, especially in Georgia, Virginia, California, and Maryland.

This work enables immigrants to reunite with their loved ones after months-—and sometimes years—in detention. It supports thousands of people who benefit from NIPNLG's litigation and campaign victories.

As we celebrate 50 years of NIPNLG and look ahead to the next 50, we know that none of this is possible without your partnership and support.
